Record Top Price For Trigger Vale
By any measure Trigger Polls and White Suffolk studs, Lockhart 34th on property auction sale was a record breaker. A huge crowd was on hand at the recently completed selling complex to witness a 100% clearance of both breeds with the Polls averaging $2020 and the White Suffolk’s $1060. A new Trigger Vale Poll record was achieved when Lot 1 realized $7000 with several interested bidders trying to secure the 100kg twin before being knocked down to John Tonissen, Artunga Merino’s Branxholme, Victoria. John who made the trip with his brother and sheep classer Mat commented that the ram showed great Maternal characteristic’s. To get such a long stapled, deep crimping wool on such a plain bodied meaty polled sheep is rare and we are excited about the direction this ram will take us.
J & McDonnell & Sons purchased the seconded highest price poll ram for $4400 for stud duties at their “Avalon” Bond stud while Bill Luff, Coolac secured a 109kg 21.1 micron triplet for $4000.
Volume buyers included PA & LM Forbes, Lockhart who put together a very impressive draft of 12 rams for an average of $2250 and Wirrani Past Co, Narrandera with 16 rams averaging $1170 who are both long term Trigger Vale clients.
The top price of $2500 for a White Suffolk stud ram was purchased by GP Rogers, Woodwood Victoria who purchased a total of 4 stud rams to use in their ram breeding enterprise.
The top price commercial White Suffolk of $2000 was paid by Peter and Joy Thomson, West Wyalong who put together a superb draft of 4 rams to average $1600 for their 1st cross prime lamb enterprise. Other volume buyers included the Gooden and Smoker partnership from Lockhart who certainly filled up their ute and trailer with 19 rams averaging $910. Long term White Suffolk client Robert Bull Narrandera and new client Hamish White Downside also compiled impressive drafts.
Trigger Vale principle Andrew and Mandi Bouffler were extremely pleased with the result and observed it reflected the ongoing capital and labor invested into their studs. Large drafts of industry leading performance tested genetics don’t come together by chance Andrew said. We have invested heavily in outside genetics, AI programs, pedigreeing progeny and measuring all traits that drive commercial productivity and the rams penned today represented that investment. The Trigger Vale polls were particularly strong today which reflects the shift occurring in the Australian sheep industry. “With clients travelling from the Western Districts to West Wyalong and Gundagai to Swan Hill to secure our maternally focused polled dual purpose genetics you can see that many sheep breeders are placing more emphasis on fertility, easy care and meat characteristic’s while maintaining a quality wool clip” he said.
Trigger Vale Poll and White Suffolk rams are now available at reasonable rates for private selection.

Tim Manifold "Kinleith" White Suffolks, Keynton Vic with Andrew and Mandi Bouffler and the Top Price WS Ram at Trigger Vales 2010 On-Property Sale
Trigger Vale hits high of $4500
It was smiles all round, both before and after the Trigger Vale sale at Lockhart last week, with buyers in high spirits with high ewe and lamb prices and good lambing percentages. This was quickly converted to strong prices as Andrew and Mandi Bouffler's sale of Trigger Vale Polls and White Suffolks topped at $4500 to clear 84 of 85 Polls for a $1711 average up $500 on last year, and all 55 White Suffolks for a $1107 average, up $400 on last year. The sale topper and top Poll went to Stuart Cumming, Fernleigh Polls Stud, Glenthompson, Victoria, while the top-priced White Suffolk at $4200 went to Tim and Veronica Manifold, Kinleith White Suffolk Stud, Kyneton, Victoria and these were both new clients to the stud, Mr Bouffler said. However, putting a floor in the sale was the big number of volume buyers, including Peter Forbes, Lockhart, who topped at $3200 for 11 Poll rams for his self-replacing pure flock, which also includes a few crossbreds; long-term buyers, the Moncrieff family, West Wyalong, with seven Poll rams at $3200; and the Goldsworthy family, Junee, topping at $3000, twice. In the White Suffolks, the Booth family, Ganmain, topped at $1100 for four rams and the McDonnells from Lockhart topped at $3800 for five. This included a Poll ram at the $3800 top which will be used to breed their own rams, while the other four were White Suffolks, each at $1000. PJ and JE Thompson, Griffith, also bought four White Suffolks.
Operating in both the Poll and White Suffolk camps were Graham Hicks, Lowesdale near Corowa, who bought three of each to top at $2500 for a Poll; Lockhart Locals Philip and Matt Bouffler, who bought three Polls for a top of $1100, as well as five White Suffolks; and David Wallace, Mitamo near Elmore, who bought two Polls and four White Suffolks, topping at $ 2800 for a Poll ram and averaged $1500 on the White Suffolks.
Vendor , Andrew Bouffler , said the relevance of the Polls had increased in the current climate, thanks to their combination of plain skin, carcase characteristics and weight traits which were targeted by buyers. He said there was a strong emphasis on muscle and number of lambs weaned, too, and was a big shift from 10 years ago when greasy fleece was instead a big price determinant. “You could see with the breeding values a push for muscle and growth” he said. In the White Suffolks, the main push behind the price was the competition for the rams with extreme growth rate and moderate birthrate. “The rams with this combination just go” he said.
Mr Bouffler said he was pleased with the result and to see such a good return of optimism in both the season and the market. He said those who had held onto their core breeding stock were finally being paid and “its just really satisfying”.
The Selling Agents were Elders Wagga Wagga and H Francis and Co, Wagga Wagga, with James Tierney and Evan Traviss as auctioneers.

Trigger Vale Displays Rams at Bendigo Sheep Show and Hamilton Sheepvention.
Trigger Vale Polls are exactly the type of sheep that the industry is crying out for so we decided to display our rams for the wider sheep community to view and consider for their sheep production system. For the first time visitor at both Bendigo and Hamilton we were happy with the interest, particularly with the variety of inquiry which came from merino breeders, first-cross breeders and comeback breeders, all interested in Trigger Vale Polls for different reasons.
