Stud principle, Andrew Bouffler, was pleased with the sale and said the average was abouton par with last year. "The sale was strong without being spectacular" he said."We had 90 per cent clearance for our Bond Merinos and although the White Suffolk clearance was down on last year's sale, average prices were up." He said the sale result reflected a swing back towards Bond Merinos with many buyers planning replacement programs.
Anthony Hicks, "Buccluch Villa", Lowesdale, paid $2050 for the top priced Bond Merino ram of the catalogue. He also bought a second Bond sire for $1800.
Meanwhile Steven Taylor, Giles Creek White Suffolk Stud, secured the top priced White Suffolk ram for $1500.
Volume purchasers included Terry Goldsworthy, "Courallie" Junee, who bought 10 rams which included a mix of Bonds and White Suffolks to a top of $1900 and Peter Forbes "Woodend" Lockhart.
